Customs intelligence officials seized gold bars weighing around 12 kilograms hidden inside a wooden box from the cargo of Hajrat Shahjalal International Airport early Friday.
Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation director general Mainul Khan said, acting on secret information, a team of customs intelligence officials searched the air cargo unit of the airport on Thursday midnight and found the gold bars concealed inside a wooden box containing electrical fans.
The market value of the seized gold bars is about Tk 6 crore, officials said.
The box, flown to Dhaka from Hong Kong in Cathay Pacific's cargo flight 6X049, was sent to Zara International by Global International HK.
